For fishing enthusiasts, Camping de la Motte in the Vendée offers free access to a magnificent 3000 m² private freshwater pond (reserved for campsite holidaymakers) where pike, carp and roach can be found. You don’t need a fishing licence, whether you’re an amateur or a professional, you can all indulge your passion and fish freely during your week with us! The lake is just a few meters from the campsite, so you can walk to the beach and shore.
The lake is accessible all day long as soon as the reception opens:
- Off-season: from 9 a.m.
- High season: from 8 a.m.

different fishing techniques
To become an ace fisherman, it’s essential to know the different techniques for catching all kinds of fish.
- Strike fishing is undoubtedly the most classic technique. It can be practised all year round and is the type of fishing recommended for beginners. It allows you to learn the basics by trapping fish such as roach, carp, bream or gudgeon. To do this, you’ll need a mounted line.
- English fishing allows you to bait the big ones that you can’t trap with conventional techniques. In addition to the casting technique, match fishing requires a rod, reel and float to be effective.
- Lure-rope fishing involves strolling along the shoreline in search of fish to catch. It’s the ideal technique for trapping pike and other predators that tend to venture into crowded areas.

As this is a private fishing pond at the campsite, you don’t need to obtain a fishing permit from your local fishing federation, as you do for river fishing, to fish in the campsite pond. And don’t forget to bring the right equipment, especially lines. Each line must have no more than two hooks, and each family is allowed to bring a maximum of 4 lines. In principle, nights will be devoted to resting in your mobile home, as you will only have access to the pond during the day, as night fishing is forbidden in the Vendée. What’s more, if you stay on our estate, you can also take advantage of all our star services, such as the water park with its large indoor swimming pool.
